Install all Windows Updates

To run Sage 50 on a new computer, it's crucial to have the latest version of the .NET Framework and Visual C++ installed.

  1. Ensure your computer has installed the most recent Windows updates. You can find instructions on how to install updates on Microsofts Website.
  2. Reboot the computer after installing any updates.

Disable antivirus and firewall temporarily

  1. Locate your antivirus icon in the system tray (usually at the bottom-right corner of your screen).
  2. Right-click on the antivirus icon and look for an option to disable or pause protection. Select this option.
  3. Follow any prompts to confirm the action.
  4. Install Sage 50 again after disabling the antivirus.

 TIP: Remember to re-enable your antivirus to ensure your system remains protected. 

Uninstall and reinstall Sage 50

  1. Uninstall Sage 50 from the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Rename the C:\Program Files (x86)\Sage 50 Accounting Version 20xx folder to Old Sage 50 Version.
  3. Rename the C:\Program Files (x86)\winsim folder to oldwinsim.
  4. Reinstall Sage 50 with the latest download.
  5. If you still can't open Sage 50, contact your IT for Windows repair.
