The font text is small in the "Starting Sage 50" window

Change Sage 50 icon properties

  1. Right-click the Sage 50 icon.
  2. Select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab.
  3. Select Change high DPI settings at the bottom.
  4. Uncheck the box for Override high DPI scaling behavior.

Install SERIFE.FON and SSERIFE.FON

  1. Download and extract Fonts.zip.
  2. There are 2 font files named SERIFE.FON and SSERIFE.FON. Double-click on each font file and click Install.
  3. Open a data file or sample company and confirm that the font size is back to normal.

Update the registry

1. Update Windows 

Ensure the Windows OS is up to date.

2. Ensure the fonts are up to date

Do a file search for SERIFE.FON and SSERIFE.FON on the C:\ drive to make sure it’s installed on the system.

3. Check the Windows text size

Return the default text display to 100% by typing DPI in Windows Search or clicking Windows Start.

Windows display option to change the size of text, apps, and other items.

Scale and layout option to set to 100%.

4. Modify the Registry

  1. Type Windows Key + R.
  2. Type regedit.
  3. Back up the registry by going to File, Export.
  4. Set the Export range to the All radio button.
  5. Type a file name and click Save.
  6. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts.
  7. Create a new string with Value Name: MS Sans Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24 and Value Data: SSERIFE.FON.
    • Browse to the right side of the registry screen where you have the columns Name, Type, and Data
    • Right-click on any blank space and it will show New
    • On the dropdown Menu, select String value - it will create a new font with Name New Value#1
    • Right-click on New Value#1 and click Rename to overwrite or change the font name
    • Type MS Sans Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24 or copy and paste this to change the file name
    • Once you've changed the name, right-click on the font and click Modify
    • Under Value Data field, type SSERIFE.FON
  8. Create another string with Value Name: MS Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24 and Value Data: SERIFE.FON.
  9. Exit out of the registry.

5. Restart the computer

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Re-open Sage 50.
