  • Use Local Administrator to install Sage Intelligence
  • Install and activate Excel before the Sage Intelligence installation
  • Close Excel during installation of Sage Intelligence
  • Open the Windows Task Manager. Under Processes tab, end task all Excel.exe processes
  • Turn off Windows User Account Control (UAC) during installation. Reboot after turning off UAC

Windows requirements

  • Microsoft V.S.T.O. (Visual Studio Tools for Office) runtime 2010
  • Microsoft V.S.T.O. runtime 3.0
  • Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5
  • Microsoft .net Framework 4.5 or higher

Permissions

Set Full Control permissions for all SI users in the following areas:
  • MAS90 parent directory (normally required for Sage 100/MAS90)
  • The Sage Intelligence Report Repository. You can see it on the Report Manager login screen. During the Sage Intelligence setup, the system set up this location
  • All folders with the prefix 'BI' or 'SI' in C:\Program Files(x86 if on 64-bit Windows)\Common Files\
  • The screenshot below reflects the latest 2015 release. Earlier versions have fewer folders starting with 'BI'. Version 2025 and higher: the folder prefix is 'SI'
  • C:\ProgramData\Sage Software\SageMASIntelligenceXX\config.ini (XX=version number). Make sure there are no duplicates of the config.ini file, or Repository folder in C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\VirtualStore
  • HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins registry entry
  • Verify group policy and domain level permissions are consistent with the above

Report Repository

  • Set as a UNC path, on a shared network drive. Using a Mapped drive to select the location will fail.

Excel

Run a compatible version of Excel:

  • Microsoft 365 Cloud isn’t compatible
  • Microsoft 365 local is compatible
  • 64-bit versions of Excel are compatible with Sage 100 2014 and newer only
  • Install V.B.A. components for Excel

Run a Repair/Change install of Excel from the Control Panel, see screen-shots below

Sage Intelligence will launch properly when logged in to Windows as an Administrator user.
For non-administrator users: right-click the shortcut for Sage 100 and select Run as Administrator. Do this before accessing the Sage Intelligence Reporting.
