Temporarily disable third-party program enhancements
Description

Not all third-party program enhancements follow Master Developer programming standards. Other errors or unexpected behavior may result from following these procedures.

Summary

Following the procedure and observing that the error no longer occurs, helps demonstrate that third-party enhancements are the cause of the issue.

When the error still occurs, this doesn’t completely rule out third-party enhancements.  Not all third-party enhancements follow the "LINKS" folder rule and not all third-party programs reside in the "Links" folder.

Procedural Steps

  1. Log all users out of the Sage 100 system. (If this is an Advanced or Premium edition, also stop the Service or Application running Sage 100).
  2. Create a new backup folder (whether on the Windows Desktop, or elsewhere on the server) for temporary storage of the third-party program files.
  3. Use File Explorer to access the "..\MAS90\Links" folder on the Sage 100 server hosting the installation.
  4. In the "Links" folder, move every file except "Default.pvc" to the new backup folder.
  5. Log back into the Sage 100 system. For Advanced or Premium editions, restart the Service or Application running Sage 100 first.
  6. Attempt to perform the task or re-create the error condition.
  7. When done, move all the files taken out of the "LINKS" folder back into place.

Additional Information

If you suspect that the third-party program enhancements also include Custom Office (Customizer Selection) modifications, perform the following. Do this after moving the program files, and before attempting to re-create the error condition.

  1. From the Sage 100 Desktop, go to File / Run.
  2. Enter "*ESC" as the program (without quotes, including the asterisk).
  3. Select "Yes" when prompted to enable Escape Trapping.
    • Note: This procedure only applies to a single workstation.
  4. To later disable the Escape Trapping, run "*ESC" again to select "Yes" to disable Escape Trapping. Or, log out of Sage 100 at the workstation, then log back in again.
