| What is the difference between Backup, Save As and Save a Copy? |
Resolution | Backup: Creates a second copy of your company data in a .CAB compressed file. - The information in this folder is a snapshot of your company's records up to the day on which the backup copy was made
- Any changes made to your company after the backup are not reflected in the backup copy
- You can, of course, create backup copies of your company as often as you want. The only limit is the amount of storage space you have available
- Access it by clicking File, Backup
- It will create one cab file
- Need to run restore to regenerate the .sai file and .saj folder of the data file. (See Related Resources for more information how to restore)
Save As: Closes your original file and opens a newly-created mirror copy. - You can use this command to quickly create a copy of your data
- Access it by clicking File, Save As
- Save data by a different file name in the same location or by the same file name in a different location
- You will see both the .sai file .saj folder of the new data file created
- New data file will be opened immediately
Save as Copy: Keeps your original file open while Sage 50 Accounting creates a copy. - Access it by clicking File, Save a Copy
- Save data by a different file name in the same location or by the same file name in a different location
- User will see both the .sai file .saj folder of the new data file created
- New data file will NOT be opened immediately
- The current data file is still opened
