Sage 300 CRE includes four types of formulas. We've listed them below with important information about each type.

Application formulas

Sage 300 CRE provides application formulas with the following applications:

  • Address Book
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Contracts
  • Cash Management
  • Equipment Cost
  • Information Assistant
  • Job Cost
  • Payroll
  • Project Management
  • Property Management

Add these formulas to the report from the XX - Formula index in the Field view, where XX is the application initials.

Sage stores these formulas in the xx.frm file located in your \\ServerName\Timberline Office\9.5\ACCOUNTING\Formula\ folder. The "xx" is the application name.

You can't modify these formulas. You can copy them to a Design or Public formula and modify the copy.

These formulas can change when we release software updates.

Public formulas

Create public formulas and add them to your report from the Public Formula index in the Field view.

Public formulas are user-created formulas that are application-specific. You can access them wherever you can use formulas.

Sage stores public formulas in the user.frm file located in your \\"ServerName"\Timberline Office\9.5\ACCOUNTING\Formula\ folder. Include this file in your regular backups.

You can modify these formulas in the application, Inquiry Designer, and Report Designer. If your report design requires the formula to remain unchanged, create a copy before modifying it.

Design formulas

Create design formulas in Report Designer, Tools, Formulas while your report is open. Add them to the report from the Design Formula index in the Field view.

Design formulas are specific to the report design and Sage saves the formulas in the design. You can only modify them while working in the report design.

You can't select these formulas when working in the applications. If you need to use the same formula in other designs or applications, copy it to your Public Formulas.

Quick formulas

Use quick formulas for items that need a formula but you only need them to display once on the report.

Create quick formulas in Report Designer, Tools, Quick Formula while your report design is open. It inserts the formula into the design at the location of your cursor. You can only use each quick formula once in the design.

Quick formulas are specific to the report design and Sage saves them in the design. You can only modify them while working in the report design.

You can't copy them to other formula records and you can't use them in other formulas.
