Add Domain Administrator credentials to Pervasive/Actian/Zen services
Description
Cause

Adding Domain Administrator credentials to the Pervasive/Actian/Zen Database services allows the services to run as an administrator instead of the default logon of Local System. This allows the services to communicate directly with the server and bypass security settings that can interfere with the network communication.

Resolution

CAUTION:

This solution requires advanced knowledge of Windows security and network settings. Sage isn't responsible for any issues that arise from changes to these settings. Ensure you back up all system and application databases necessary for a complete restoration. It's advisable to contact a certified consultant or your system administrator for assistance.

These steps add Domain Administrator Credentials to the server logon for Pervasive/Actian/Zen services. Perform at both the server and affected workstations. You can use these steps when you use Pervasive/Actian WGE Service on Terminal Server or Citrix Server instead of the Relational and Transactional services.

  1. Have all users log out of Sage and remain out for this procedure.
  2. Go to Start, RUN, then type in SERVICES.MSC.
  3. Click Ok.
  4. In the Services Console window, modify the services:
    • Versions 24.2 and later:
      1. Locate and right-click the Actian Zen Enterprise Server service and select Properties.
      2. Go to the Log On tab.

      5. Right-click the service and select Restart.

      2. Go to the Log On tab.
      3. Select Log on as: This account.
      4. Enter the DOMAIN\ADMINISTRATOR account and password.
