See the Payroll tax release notes for changes included in the tax update: Warning: Download and update taxes in each company data folder that does not share a tax file. After you complete this update and have run Update Taxes in Payroll, tax changes are effective the next time you process payroll, regardless of the effective date on the tax table or the dates on the check. Tax updates do not affect previously issued checks. If you do not have internet access on your Sage 300 CRE network to copy the tax file from the knowledgebase to create a tax update installer: - Log into the Sage Knowledgebase on a computer with internet access then find the article titled “How to download Payroll Taxes Updates from the Knowledgebase. Select the related article for your country.
- Click the Download button in the download article associated with your country, browse to the location where you want to save the file, and save the self-extracting PT[version name].exe zip file to a temporary folder on your local drive or an external drive such as a USB flash drive or CDRW. Note: If you are downloading United States taxes the filename will be PTUS[version].exe (for example PTUS2301.exe). If you are downloading Canadian taxes the filename will be PTCA[version].exe (for example PTCA2301.exe) Settings may not allow the user to select a location to save the file preventing the user from saving it to an external media. Note the path where the exe file was saved.
- Browse to the location where you downloaded the self-extracting file. If the file was saved on the local machine, first copy the file to the external media that you will be using to copy the needed files to your Sage 300 CRE network.
- Double-click the PT[version name].exe file that was saved to the external drive. This will create a PTUSXXXX or PTCAXXXX folder in the folder where you saved the self-extracting zip file and extracts the tax files needed for the install to that folder. (Example PTUS2301 or PTCA2301)
- If needed, label the media with the version (for example, PR TAX v. 23.01).
- At your Sage 300 CRE server, connect the external drive.
- Logged in as a user with Administrator permissions browse to the location where you saved the tax update folder on the external drive, double click on the folder, then double-click the Setup.exe file to start the Payroll Tax Table installation. Follow the instructions for a complete installation.
- When you start Payroll, you should receive a message indicating that Update Taxes has not been run for the Payroll Tax files you recently downloaded. When you are ready to update the taxes In Payroll, select Tools, Update Taxes.
- If you have multiple company folders that use Payroll and do not share the same tax file, you may need to repeat this process to update taxes in your other company folders.
Notes: - The file in the related resource is a self-extracting zip file.
- Log on to your network and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate with full administrative rights.
- If your company uses File Locations for PR Tax, verfiy that the location set is valid. You must have full administrative rights to both the network and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate.
- The US tax file is PTUS XX.XX, the Canadian tax file is PTCA XX.XX.
- The tax file from the knowledgebase doesn’t install the tax update automatically. Installation procedures may vary based on your configuration. For example, if you use a terminal server, you may need to install using Add/Remove Programs.
To verify that the latest tax rates updated: - In Payroll, select Setup, Taxes, Tax Rates.
- Enter the Tax ID for one of the taxes listed in the Payroll Tax release notes. There is a link to the current Payroll Tax Release Notes included above.
- If the Effective date in the Tax Rate Setup window matches the effective date in the release notes, taxes updated correctly. If the effective dates don’t match, review the installation instructions provided in the release notes. Repeat steps as needed.
Note: Most local taxes and state employer taxes don’t update with the tax updates. To manually update your local and state employer tax rates go to Setup, Taxes, Tax Rates. [BCB:156:Chat 300 CRE US:ECB]
