| How to backup Sage BusinessVision data? |
Resolution | Sage BusinessVision doesn't have a built-in backup utility. There are several ways to do a backup: - Copy/ Paste the data folder or the customized forms/ reports to another location on the computer
- Copy/ Paste the data folder to USB key, external hard drive or any other media device
- Use a third-party backup utility. Sage doesn't recommend a backup utility. Consult with your IT support for a backup utility
What do you need to back up? - You need to back up the working directory and any customized forms/ reports
How to determine the working directory? - Start Sage BusinessVision.
- On the Company Selection window, click the company name to highlight.
- The location of the data folder is displayed in the Working Directory box.
How to determine the location of your custom forms? - Click File, Printer Setup, then Print Properties.
- Highlight each form and check the path for the form. If the path is C:\BusinessVision\Reports, they're normally the standard forms. If the path isn't C:\BusinessVision\Reports, they’re custom forms.
How to determine the location of your custom reports? - Click File, Print Reports.
- Select each module and click Custom Reports tab for each module.
- If there's a custom report, highlight the report and click the Edit button. The path will show the location of the custom report.
TIP: Add the date on the folder name when you label the backup folder. This will avoid overwriting the old backup copies and helps locating the backup easier.
