I renamed the SAI file or SAJ folder and the file will not open any longer

Resolution
  • Sage 50 data is stored in a MySQL database.
  • Each database consists of a SAI file that contains profile information about your company data, and a folder with an . SAJ folder that contains your actual company data, including financials and transactions
  • In order for your data file to open, both the SAI file and the . SAJ folder must be stored on your computer on the same directory or location
  • To open your data file, all you need is to double-click on the SAI file and you can access your data file
  • The SAI file is only a shortcut to let Sage 50 know to open the .SAJ data in the same folder the SAI and .SAJ is located in
  • If you rename the SAI file dissimilar to the name of the SAJ folder, the data will not open
  • in the example above, double clicking on Test123.SAI will tell Sage 50 to find a database named Test123.SAJ instead of Test.SAJ

Option I: Rename the SAI file

  • In Windows Explorer, right click on the SAI file and click Rename
  • Change the name to Test.SAI

  • Double click on Test.SAI again

Option II: Rename the SAJ folder

  • In Windows Explorer, right click on the SAJ folder and click Rename
  • Change Test.SAJ to Test123.SAJ

  • Double click on Test123.SAI file to open the data file
