| How do I merge accounts in my chart of account? |
Description | The two accounts merged must have the same settings for the following conditions: - Same Group (asset, liability, equity, revenue, expense)
- Same Type (Group, Subgroup)
- Same Class (For example, asset has class like cash, bank, credit card receivable)
- Same Currency
- Same Reconciliation Setting (on/off)
The Merge From account cannot be a linked account.
|
Resolution | Method 1: I have the Accountant's Edition - Select Maintenance, then Merge Records.
- Select Accounts, then Next.
- Select the Account to Merge From and the Account to Merge To.
Method 2: I don't have the Accountant's Edition - Accounts merging is only available with the Accountant's Edition.
- Sage recommends you contact your accountant or Registered Sage Partner (SAN) who has access to the Accountant's Edition.
- If your accountant or SAN has the Accountant's Edition:
- Make a backup of your data file.
- Send a copy of the backup to your accountant/SAN.
- Do not post any entries until your accountant/SAN has returned a modified backup.
- If your accountant or SAN does not have the Accountant's Edition:
- Consider doing a general journal entry to transfer any outstanding amounts to the correct account.
- Wait 24 consecutive months, then inactivate the account.
