Performance issues with Remote Data Access
Description
Cause
  • Performance issues with files shared through Remote Data Access
Resolution

Factors that could have an affect on Remote Data Access Multi-user (and even Single User) performance:

  • For best performance the recommended internet upload/download speeds of at least 25mbps; minimum upload/download speeds of 10mbps
  • Ways the local network may be using data being sent/received (esp. streaming video, downloading large files, system updates being downloaded or in progress)
  • Demands on local network traffic (video surveillance cameras, data interchange for any program or automated processes)
  • Size of database and number of records/transactions for certain operations, such as reporting
  • Number of users logged in concurrently and throughput of data (how fast are people posting, how many people attempting to post, concurrency of posting attempts)
  • Network connections latency
  • Local PC environmental issue (amount of disk space, memory, CPU, router etc..)
  • Security software (anti-virus, firewall)
  • Network bandwidth
