Error 1053 or 1069 when starting the Sage 50 Connection Manager

Check for Windows Updates

  1. In your Windows search, type Check for Updates.
  2. Select Check for updates.
  3. Install all pending updates and restart the computer.
  4. Repeat Steps 1-3 until there are no more updates to install.

Disable UAC

  1. Disable User Account Control (UAC).
  2. Verify that you no longer receive the message.

Specify a service account

  1. Open the Control Panel, Administrative Tools, then Services.
  2. Right-click the Sage 50 Database Connection Manager, then select Properties.
  3. Select the Log On tab.
  4. Enter in the name of the user account and password that you use to log into Windows.
  5. Select Apply.
     NOTE: If there's no password on your account, add on using the User Accounts section of the Control Panel. 
  6. Select the General tab.
  7. Select Start to restart the service.
  8. Close the Services settings.
  9. If the error persists, revert back to your local system account.
  10. Try starting the Connection Manager again.

Stop and restart the DHCP Client

  1. Open the Control Panel, Administrative Tools, then Services.
  2. Scroll down to the DHCP Client.
  3. Right-click and select Stop.
  4. Scroll down to the Sage 50 Database Connection Manager.
  5. Right-click and select Start.
  6. Scroll up to the DHCP Client.
  7. Right-click and select Start.
  8. Try opening Sage 50 again. You may need to restart the computer for some services to restart properly. 

Unplug the Ethernet cable

  1. Unplug the Ethernet cable from the computer.
  2. Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.
  3. Right-click the Sage 50 Connection Manager and select Start
  4. If it starts, plug the Ethernet cable back in.

Install the latest version of Microsoft .NET Framework

Visit the Microsoft website to download the current version of Microsoft .NET Framework.

Run the service locally

  1. Select Start, then Run.
  2. Type regedit, then select OK.
  3. Select File, then Export.
  4. Select All in the Export Range.
  5. Type a name and location for the backup, then select Save.
  6. Locate the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Simply Accounting Database Connection Manager.
  7. In the right pane, double-click ObjectName.
  8. In the Edit String dialog box that appears, type LocalSystem in the IN VALUE Data Field, then select OK.
  9. Close the Registry Editor.
  10. Open the Windows Control Panel, then Administrative Tools.
  11. Select Services.
  12. Right-click Sage 50 Database Connection Manager, then select Start.

Create a new user account

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Click User Accounts.
  3. Create a new User Account with full administrator rights.
  4. Switch users and see if you can start the services from that user account.
